Karen Spiegel was elected to her first term on the Corona City Council in 2002 and reelected in 2006, 2010 and 2014. She served as Mayor in 2006, 2010, and 2014 was elected as Vice Mayor on December 7, 2016. Prior to her election to the City Council, she served as elected City Treasurer from 1996-2002. Mrs. Spiegel currently serves on the Public Services Committee and is also the founder of the Women’s Leadership Program, a partnership with the City of Corona and the Greater Corona Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Healthy Corona program.

Mrs. Spiegel represents Corona on the Regional level in many organizations including: Chair of Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC); Chair of the High Speed Rail & Transit Committee of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG); District 63 Representative to SCAG; Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink) Board Member; an alternate to LOSSAN (Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor); SR-91 Advisory Committee; WTS Advancing Women in Transportation; American Public Transportation Association; the Riverside Orange County Authority (ROCA); Vice Chair of the Four Corners Transportation Coalition; Vice Chair of the Riverside Division of the League of California Cities and the Administrative Committee of the California League of Cities. She also served ten years on the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) including two years as Chair; Transportation NOW Committee; and the Western Riverside County of Governments (WRCOG). She currently serves as Supervisor Tavaglione’s alternate to the Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority.
A Corona resident for over twenty-seven years, Mrs. Spiegel is an active member of the community and the owner of a local e-commerce/publishing company. Her “roll-up your sleeves” attitude has led her to immerse herself in many civic, business and community activities, including the Greater Corona Valley Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimist International, PTA, Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV), Trauma Intervention Program (TIP), UNITY Board, Corona Fire Safety Foundation Board, SACK Foundation, Congregation Beth Shalom, and the Woman's Improvement Club.
Mrs. Spiegel has been honored for her community service with numerous awards and recognitions over the years including: California Jaycees Senator Award (2012); the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen of the Year (2011); CBS Legacy Award (2011); TIP-15 Years of Caring (2011); NAWBO Community Bridge Builder (2010); Woman of the Year 2009 by Senator John Benoit; JDRF Living & Giving Award (2009); WIC Jenny Award (2009); YMCA Distinguished Service Award (2008); YWCA Women of Achievement (2007); CNIA Community Volunteer of the Year (2006); LDS Family Values Award (2005); ADV Founder’s Award (2005); GlobalNet Leadership Award (1999); Corona Citizen of the Year (1995); and Soroptimist Woman of Distinction Award (1994).
Mrs. Spiegel, and her husband Bobby, have five children and one grandchild. She graduated from the California State University in Long Beach and did her graduate studies at Pepperdine University, receiving a master’s degree and was a Marriage Family Counselor (MFC) for over twenty-five years.
