Recreation Services

The Recreation Services Division is dedicated to presenting high quality
 educational, athletic, social, and leisure activities for our community. These programs and services include: citywide special events, recreational classes, facility rentals, picnic shelter reservations, youth and adult sports programming, after-school recreation, summer camps, senior programs and services, and aquatics.


Recreation Services welcomes volunteers for:

Corona Senior Center:
Volunteers have a wide variety of opportunities at the Corona Senior Center, which include: working the front desk and answering phones, greeting and socializing with Seniors, organizing or conducting classes or activities, and assisting with food programs.
Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older and volunteers are needed throughout the day at the Senior Center.  Operating hours are:
  • Monday – Thursday from 7:30AM – 8:00PM
  • Friday 7:30AM – 5:00PM
  • Saturday 7:30AM – 12:00PM
 

Five (5) Week Programs

Volunteers for the programs listed below must commit to the entire duration of the season which is typically five (5) weeks.
               
Youth Basketball Scorekeeper:
Volunteers will keep score using electronic score boards and/or flip scoreboards. Between games volunteers sweep the courts and clean-up trash at both team benches.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for teens 14-17 years old. Hours are weeknights and Saturdays.

Youth Sports Coach:
Volunteer Coaches are essential to the operation of Youth Sports in the City of Corona. Volunteer Coaches organize and run a maximum of two (2) practices and a minimum of one game per week. Age Divisions include 5-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, 10-11 year olds and 12-14 year olds. 
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Hours are weeknights and Saturdays.
 
Youth Sports Sportsmanship Ambassador – B.E.S.T. Program:
Volunteers work to encourage positive spectator behavior during youth sports games and promote the B.E.S.T. (Believe in Excellent Sportsmanship Together) Program Campaign.
 
Volunteers must be 18 years of age and older. Hours are Weeknights and Saturdays.
 
Pee-Wee Sports Assistant:
Volunteers assist Recreation staff with coaching 3-4 year olds in various youth sports to promote children’s motor skills in a positive, motivating environment.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age and older. Hours are two (2) weeknights per week for two (2) hours each night.
